Using Active Directory Restore mode
We restore active directory in Active Directory Restore Mode. In this mode active directory become stop with its all service and dependence. Before restoring I get a System State Backup by windows server backup.
My main domain server name is “vmw2k3” and the domain name is “abc.com”.
Start Pc @ active directory restore mode
Press F8 then select Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only) and press Enter.
In log on window user name text box write administrator and in the password text box give active directory restore mode password that we give at the time of active directory installation.
Click on Ok button or press enter from keyboard.
Start active directory restore.
Click on start button go to all programs menu click on accessories click on system tools and click on backup.
Backup or restore wizard started.
Click Next button from the wizard.
Then click Restore files and settings radio button and click Next button.
From item to restore box expand file and check system state then click on Next button.
From completing the backup or restore wizard click on Advanced.. button.
Then from how to restore box click on replace existing files if they are older than the backup files radio button and click ok.
From Advanced Restore Options box check restore security settings and preserve existing volume mount points check box then click Next button.
Now click finish button.
The restore process begins.
Then check the backup file location is ok click ok button.
After restore process complete we get a computer restart request.
Click Yes button then click Close button.
Then restart the pc and now it start on normal mode. We can log on as domain users or administrator.
